While the scripts in this tutorial do work in ActionScript 2, they are not recommended by many Flash developers (including Adobe) and as such, techniques such as putting AS on MovieClips like on(press) and onClipEvent will not work in AS3. Any code put on instances will be ignored when you compile your movie.
Author's Response:
I did create this tutorial for Flash 8, not CS3.

I only found a couple of spots where the ball got stuck, overall, very nice. The only thing I would have changed is having the startDrag not lock to the center of the platforms. It was annoying to click on a platform to rotate it and have it mvoe to wherever my mouse clicked. And more levels. definitely more levels.

I normally don't like Mario sprite movies and I was skeptical b/c of no preloader, but I liked it! Good job with the sounds and the animations. The story was interesting too, and I am looking forward to episode 2.
The only thing I would change is the las of preloader. Please just google 'flash preloader tutorial' it's relatively easy, but adds so much to the experience.
Author's Response:
yup i was a little lazy, because i didn't do that, but newgrounds have awesome preloaders so the next episode have one

The concept is awesome, and I found myself playing it more than I usually play games in the portal. I was just disappointed by the slow increase in difficulty. Throwing in the floating enemies and the blade bars is cool, but it seemed to repeat itself. I still played it way too much though. Good job.

Awesome. I was entertained and only thought it was too short. So he's coming back, right?

It's a nice way to express it, man, Everyone's got at least one person they can dedicate this one to.
Nice animation too

I didn't know that the sides of Lil Arthur could touch as long as the cursor didn't. I liked the story behind, and the graphics were smooth. Nice trail effect!

I'm hoping you make version 2 and add in some different types of obstacles! The only thing that annoyed me was the mouse getting in the way sometimes.
Nice work overall!

I was impressed with the animation right away, and the music was perfect. Probably a blend of the music style and your skill at animating, but it was there without sticking out and really went well with the movie. The story was awesome because there was no real back story, but a definite flow of events. I loved it!
Nice work!

A couple of pointers on movement: When he's jumping, watch where the transformation point is. when he crouches before jumping, it should be touching the ground. When he goes up and down the ramp it should be closer to the back of the board, so try to edit the skater so the point is somewhere back there.
Curves such as jumping the dog are a big issue with any tween. Just mess with it and scrub as best you can. Hav you considered putting the skater on an invisible path?
